It’s super late so I’m going to keep this somewhat short and sweet. I had 34 readers preorder my book (which is AMAZING)! However, I ran into issues with Ingram vs KDP (Amazon) and things got a bit twisted the week before launch.
Basically, Ingram sold the preorders to Amazon because I unknowingly forgot to press a button during my book setup on KDP. I was annoyed at first, but whatever. A sale is a sale and I’m grateful for every single order and person behind said order.
Well, I got my end-of-month report for September from Ingram. This is what I see:

That means I sold $218.96 worth of product but owe them $1.02. How?! Why?!
I did a bit of digging and, unfortunately for me, I didn’t triple check the pricing after having so many approval issues. I was originally under the impression that I would be making four cents per book when someone bought through a store and that store ordered from Ingram. Nope. I actually “earn” negative $0.03!
After finding that out, I am rethinking my partnership with IngramSpark. Nothing will make it worth it for me to lose money. Yes, getting my book out into the world is a priority, but I’m just going to have to figure out a different way to hustle (including upgrading this site and offering signed copies directly… COMING SOON!)
I’m tired. I’m stressed. I’m trying to post on all the sites as often as possible. But I’m realizing that I need to focus on my readers and sharing the fun parts of my story, instead placing all the stressors with God. Yes, you read that right. I’m a firm believer that I can give my worries to God and choose to focus on what I can do instead of things that are out of my hands.
Okay, I’m exhausted and I want to get a little reading in before I close my eyes. Current Read: Dreams and Dragon Wings by Ashley Willingham
I love you, bye!
