- When my teenage children laugh. Not a fake laugh, but a deep and genuine guffaw. I am blessed to be able to hear one of these pure sounds of joy from at least one of them daily. Yes, we all have bad days, but the happy ones outweigh the negative ones.
- The moments before I fall asleep, when I listen to my dog snoring from the foot of the bed while my husband makes small noises of either frustration or success as he plays his nightly word games. I stretch toward him for a goodnight kiss, and I love that he always meets me in the middle.
- Reading my Bible. There is something so intimate about the way God talks to me through His word. I am learning more about the Creator I worship every day, and I know I am blessed.
- Reading fiction or non-fiction books. I set a 2026 goal to read every day, and so far, I have done just that. I set my reading goal really low (50) this year because I wanted to enjoy every page and become fully immersed in the story. Best decision ever!
- Words. It is interesting how vague that answer is, but also incredibly precise. I was taking a hot bath and reading this evening (because I’m a weirdo who loves reading in the bath despite the danger of water damage… what can I say? I’m a rebel). A single sentence transported me to the day, time, and moment the character was experiencing. I smelled the scents that floated on the breeze I swore was swirling around me, and felt the heat of the sun shining through the thin material of her dress. It was lyrical and powerful, simple yet elegant. A single word is beauty. Stringing words together to create a sentence is magic. Writing a paragraph is an art. Drafting a page is power. Anything after that is a miracle. Here’s to many more miracles!
I love you, bye!
